The information at the Jetty is synchronized with the master SCADA system via a microwave link, thus ensuring highly efficient and accurate transmission of data in real time.
The Receipt Jetty is capable of handling two 6000 DWT barges simultaneously.
The Receipt Jetty is connected to twin 6 km submarine pipelines which carry the fuel to AFSC tank farm at Chek Lap Kok. These pipelines are rock armoured to protect them against potential hazards, ranging from the dragging of ships' anchors to the predicted scouring of the seabed over the next 50 years.
The underground pipelines which run from the northwestern tip of Chek Lap Kok to the Tankfarm have the capacity to carry 1500 cubic metres of fuel an hour. This means that either pipeline can support the airport's fuel needs at present rates of consumption.
In the case of an emergency, the system can accommodate direct receipt of fuel from a vessel at the West Quay of Chek Lap Kok.
